CONACT Photography
Festival 2011
Temporal anomalies in long forgotten places. A clock, a compass, an armillary sphere, all symbols of earthly timekeeping and navigation.
These are common themes in my newest work featuring clocks, compasses and a strange figure in bowler hat. Where and when does he come from and what is his agenda? Metal and gears, textures and patterns are all used to convey a sense of displacement and motion through time.
Through this series of narrative images I hope to convey a sense of surrealism, wonder and magic.
Latitude 44 is now representing my work. The gallery, located in the junction area of downtown Toronto is a classic and welcoming space. My work has been displayed since this years CONTACT photography festival and will continue to be displayed on an ongoing basis. Feel free to stop by to take a look.

Threads of time weaving back and forth.
Around and around, which way is north?
Twisting the days, turning the weeks.
A moment in time is that which he seeks.
A clock, a compass, an armillary sphere.
An unworldly traveller in antiquey gear.
Ticking, clicking the gears go around.
To no earthly laws will he ever be bound.
A stranger from when. A parallel place.
Forgotten and distant, an indistinct face.
What is his name? His agenda not clear.
Who is this man and why is he here?

PORTALS: Portals is a photographic exhibition of doorways, windows and gateways into our not so distant past. The exhibition features images of abandonment and decay but also through their narrative a sense of hope.
